SymbNET Interim Meeting

The SymbNET Interim Meeting brought together the five partners of the consortium in a two-day event in Oeiras, Portugal.

The scientific meeting, hosted by the Coordinator Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (FCG-IGC), was a great success and allowed the partners to get together in person for the first time. Group Leaders, Facility heads, Postdocs and Students shared their latest findings in Host-microbe Symbiosis, Genomics and Metabolomics in a series of oral and poster presentations. The best poster was awarded to Ana Figueiredo from the Inflammation Lab (FCG-IGC) with her work on “The role of Biliverdin reductase A in malaria”. During the meeting, there was also time for debating the “Future challenges in host-microbe symbiosis”, discuss ongoing and future collaborations, and countless networking opportunities.

The event held a Management Meeting as well, where the Work Package Leaders, Task leaders and Contributors, the Steering Board and the Advisory Board members discussed the progression of the project and future plans.
