Music and science on stage

The Sunday concerts at Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, in Lisbon, invite families to learn more about classic music and all the story behind the symphony. It is a moment where unexpectedly the audience can also learn more about science discoveries and how they impact our lives.

In 2021, two scientists were invited to take part on the concerts and take their studies on stage. From bacteria living within us to mosquitos saving lives from dengue disease the audience was thrilled to know all about the science developed at IGC and among all the networks established around the world.

With around 2000 participants in each concert, this was a great opportunity to showcase the importance of science and specifically host-microbe interaction studies being developed in Europe and promoted by the SymbNET project.
